GUWAHATI, July 11 The Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) today continued its attack on Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and said that the Minister should be relieved of his responsibilities immediately for admitting his involvement in corruption. The organization also said that by his statements, Sarma also ridiculed the entire administrative machinery and the Chief Minister should take immediate action against him.
In a statement here today, the KMSS said that in the Press meet yesterday, the Health Minister virtually admitted that all the Ministers were indulging in corruption and for that the Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi should tender his resignation. The KMSS said that the Health Minister insulted the police department by claiming that anyone can get a case diary written by managing a sub-inspector of police. If someone tried to sell the missing case diaries to Sarma a year back, he, as a law abiding citizen, should have lodged a complaint to the police against the person, the Samiti said.
The KMSS dared the Health Minister to prove his allegation that the Samiti was working under the influence of a powerful political leader and demanded that the Minister should resign if he fails to prove his allegation. The Samiti said that its general secretary Akhil Gogoi never visited any bar as claimed by the Health Minister and dared the Minister to prove the allegation.
The KMSS said that the organization would soon approach the High Court and Supreme Court with the case diaries recovered by it where Sarma was implicated.
The Samiti further said that during interrogation, Aniruddha Sarma, a cook of Cotton college admitted that Sarma was using the union hall of Cotton College to run the activities of the ULFA including collection of funds from traders.
