KMSS activists demand release of Akhil, others

DIBRUGARH, Aug 5 - Continuing with its demonstrations, Krishak Mukti Sangram Sammittee (KMSS) in collaboration with several other organisations yet again staged a protest at Chowkidinghee here today against the arrest of its leaders � Akhil Gogoi, Hemanta Konwar, Sashi Sensowa and several others who have been detained in connection with anti-CAA protests.

While demanding immediate release of the arrested leaders, the protesters also demanded withdrawal of the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Act. The protesters formed a human chain on the Mancotta Road by maintaining social distancing norms from Chowkidinghee intersection to the office of the Deputy Commissioner.

The protesters held placards as they raised slogans in support of their demand for release of all those arrested in connection with CAA protests and also for revocation of the Act.

The organisations which participated in the protest included Nagarikotta Ain Honkhudhan Virodhi Manch, Chetona Sanmilito Pragatishil Nari Manch, Manab Adhikar Sangram Sammittee, All Assam Minority Students� Union, Sangrami Pragatishil Nari Sanstha, Asom Sangrami Manch, All Assam Mottock Sanmilon and a few others, according to Samsul Haque, secretary, KMSS, Dibrugarh Town Committee.
