DIPHU, Dec 8 � Karbi Longri and North Cachar Hills Liberation Front (KLNLF) observed its 15th Martyrs Day at Taralangso, Diphu on Friday.
According to the scheduled programme, the KLNLF flag was unfurled by its commander-in-chief Prakash Kathar at around 9 am. A parade was displayed by its cadres, which was followed by a tribute to 109 KLNLF cadres who sacrificed their lives during the statehood movement.
On the occasion, a meeting was organized and it was presided over by P Dilli, chairman, KLNLF. Thong Teron, general secretary of the KLNLF explained the objective of the meeting organized on account of the Martyrs Day observance.
Addressing the meeting, several dignitaries emphasized on how to attain a separate state for the people of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao districts. To fulfil the long pending demand of the hill districts, every people of both the district will have to be united and in the name of separate state demand no party should get political mileage, they opined, appealing to the people to support the KLNLF which is in a peace negotiation with the Centre for a separate hill state.
During the Martyrs Day observance, Tuliram Ronghang, Chief Executive Member, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, Khorsing Teron, president, Karbi Lammet Amei, Chandra Sing Kro, president, Karbi Cultural Society were also present.
The KLNLF also observed its the Martyrs Day in different designated camps like Parakhuwa and Rongmongve.
