Kite, Brahmaputra fest from today

GUWAHATI, Dec 31 � The four-day Jeevan Kite and River Festival along with Brahmaputra Vandana will begin from tomorrow at the river beach near Latasil here, the organisers said in a statement.

As a tribute to the river Brahmaputra, the riverbank will be lit up with thousands of earthen lamps in the accompaniment of a themesong specially composed on the river and tuned by Rupam Bhuyan of North East Breeze and choreographed by some Cotton College students. A musical evening with State Music College, group performances by Manoj Baruah and team, musical band Ufonics will perform on the occasion.

The Brahmaputra is the lifeline of Assam and has nurtured the life and livelihood of the region from time immemorial with rich heritage, glory and unlimited potential. With an objective to introduce all these elements to the urban generation voluntary organisation Jeevan Initiative is organising the festival.

This year, the Assam Tourism Development Coporation Ltd (ATDC) is supporting the event.
