GUWAHATI, March 9 - City-based Dispur Hospitals Pvt Ltd will observe World Kidney Day tomorrow at its Ganeshguri complex. The hospital management has decided to mark the day with various activities, including a free kidney check-up camp for common people.
It may be mentioned that the day is observed on March 10 across the globe with an aim to raise awareness about the importance of kidneys in the overall health scenario and also to reduce the risk factors for the small but very important organs to purify blood. Moreover, creating awareness about various preventive behaviours and also surviving with kidney diseases without affecting the quality of life, are emphasised.
As diabetes and high blood pressure are two key risk factors for chronic kidney diseases, physicians advise everyone to adopt safe and preventive behaviours. Similarly, systematic screening of all patients with diabetes and hypertension is encouraged on International Kidney Day, which was initiated in 2006 for the first time.
Dispur Hospitals� Kidney Day activities will start with a walkathon at 7.30 am from the hospital premises. The kidney check-up camp in the hospital complex is scheduled to start at 10 am and conclude by 1 pm. Free consultation for all kidney-related diseases will also be simultaneously organised.
