Khemraj Nepal nominated for Sahitya Akademy

UDALGURI, April 16 � Dr Khemraj Nepal, a scholar of Sanskrit and Nepali language of Assam has been nominated for the prestigious Sahitya Akademy award in translation for his piece of work in Nepali �Avinashi�, a novel translated in Nepali from Sanskrit authored by Pandit Biswa Narayan Shastri.

Born to late Krishna Prasad Nepal and late Kaushalya Devi on February 7, 1958 at Balipukhuri village in Sonitpur district Dr Nepal is a voracious reader of books in Sanskrit, Hindi, Nepali, Assamese and English languages and a good number of his write ups have been being published in the leading dailies of Assam. A subject teacher in Sanskrit by profession at Biswanath Chariali Multi Purpose Higher Secondary School in Sonitpur district, Dr Nepal has authored eight books till date. When contacted telephonically by this correspondent, he said, �I am delighted and inspired to work more for my country and people.�

Meanwhile, the Nepali Sahitya Parishad of Assam, Assam Nepali Sahitya Sabha, Assam Gorkha Sammelan, All Assam Gorkha Students� Union (AAGSU) president Jagadish Khanal congratulated Dr Nepal for his achievement.
