DOOMDOOMA, Nov 25 - Apeejay Tea Limiteds Kharjan Tea Estate bagged the award for the Best Tea Garden School at the Shramik Kalyan Divas, 2019 held at the playground of Kotalgoorie Tea Estate Field, Mariani, on Saturday.

The Manager of Kharjan TE received the award from Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, who graced the occasion as the chief guest.

Just a few months back in March, 2019 during our companys annual award ceremony, our three schools head teachers and teams received the coveted Chairmans Trophy as well as a cash award for the remarkable improvement in Gunotsav, 2018 rating. The main reasons for the improved performance in Gunotsav, 2018 were regular attendance of students leading to almost zero absenteeism, focus on helping weaker students to improve, implementing easier modes of learning and regular revision of past days lessons. Today, we are simply delighted and encouraged at recognition given by the State government. The Kharjan team will continue the ongoing efforts to improve education with extracurricular activities for the overall development of our children, said an official of the tea estate.

Kharjan Tea Estate has three schools Kharjan LP School established in 1903, Kanjikhowa LP School established in 1949 and Diglibari LP School established in 1961.

Shramik Kalyan Divas 2019 was organised by the Labour Welfare Department in association with the Assam Labour Welfare Society to commemorate the birth anniversary of Late Santosh Kumar Topno, a prominent tea tribe leader of Assam.
