ITANAGAR, Sept 4 - Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu reviewed all railway projects in the State today in a meeting with officials of the Northeast Frontier Railway (Construction).
During the meeting with NF Railway (Construction) General Manager NK Prasad, the Chief Minister discussed construction of the 24.36-km Murkongselek-Pasighat railway line. He assured all cooperation of the State Government in expediting the project.
The discussion also included a review of the status of several ambitious railway projects including the 190-km Bhalukpong-Tawang railway line, which will include 177 km of tunnelling. Estimated to be completed in 10 years, survey works involving marking of alignment, soil inspection, etc., has been completed and the detailed project report (DPR) will be prepared soon.
The Chief Minister also enquired about other railway projects including the Pasighat-Tezu, Bame-Aalo lines, and all other projects proposed in the foothill areas of the State.
The Chief Minister further discussed the scope to help farmers export their produce by railway, expanding its role for transportation of perishable cargo items.
The Chief Minister urged the Railway officials to maintain the customer satisfaction level and impose a ban on the use of non-biodegradable products.
He also sought to know the satisfaction level of customers of the rail service from Naharlagun to Guwahati and Naharlagun to Tinsukia.
The Chief Minister further suggested to the Railways to maintain hygiene and use perishable items like bamboo products.
