Key players of fuel adulteration racket held

DIBRUGARH, Aug 3 - Police today arrested several key players of the increasing fuel adulteration racket from several areas of Dibrugarh, Tinsukia and Sivasagar districts.

All the arrests are linked to the July 23 raid conducted by the police at RD Dhaba in Lahoal. Police had unearthed the major fuel adulteration racket after they seized three tankers, huge quantities of illegal diesel, some acidic and chemical like substance and arrest of one Amrit Oraon from the dhaba on July 23.

Police had also arrested the owner of RD Dhaba, Rubul Dulia a few days later. The owner of the Dhaba was evading arrest for some days but police managed to arrest him from Hijuguri in Tinsukia. Following investigations, the police team today arrested the other key players in the racket � Bikash Jain of Santipara, Lallan Dubey of Naharkatia, Mukesh Choudhary of Seujpur and stockist Shiv Prasad Bagaria of Simalguri, Sivasagar, according to Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Padmanabh Baruah.

Shiv Prasad Bagaria was arrested from Simalguri by a team of police from Chabua PS. The police team also seized some 65 bags of chemicals from him. According to the ASP, the same chemical was found during the raid in RD Dhaba. The chemical is reportedly used with kerosene oil for adulteration of diesel. Police have also found links between Shiv Prasad Bagaria and the recent condensate oil seizure in Nagajan, Duliajan. According to the police, two of the arrested persons are linked to fuel pumps.
