Key Bills placed in Assembly on first day

GUWAHATI, Aug 31 - Cultural Affairs Minister Keshab Mahanta placed the Assam Heritage (Tangible) Protection, Preservation, Conservation and Maintenance Bill, 2020 today, the first day of the Assam Legislative Assembly�s autumn session.

The Bill seeks to preserve, protect, conserve, regulate, maintain, develop and promote ancient monuments, archaeological sites and heritage institutions along with museum objects like coins, sculptures, manuscripts, epigraphs or other works of art and craftsmanship and all cultural artifacts of indigenous people.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary placed the Assam Agricultural Produce and Livestock Marketing (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020 in the Assembly.

The Bill intends to create a transparent, competitive and efficient agricultural marketing system in the State by repealing the Assam Agricultural Produce Market Act, 1972. It has been prepared taking into consideration suggestions from various committees, the model Act recommended by the Union government and the recent policy for creation of a nationwide market for agricultural produce.

Patowary also placed the Birangana Sati Sadhani Rajyik Vishwavidyalaya Bill, 2020 on behalf of Education Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Assam Skill University Bill, 2020 and the Assam Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (Facilitation of Establishment and Operation) Bill, 2020 in the Assembly.

The objective of Assam Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (Facilitation of Establishment and Operation) Bill, 2020 is to give relief to the entrepreneurs under the micro, small and medium enterprises sector from the clumsy process of procuring licences and approval for their projects.
