GUWAHATI, Aug 17 - The annual general meeting of the Guwahati chapter of Heart Care Society of Assam was held at GNRC Hospital on August 14, a press release issued today said.
Over 40 members of the society from different walks of life participated in the meeting and discussed matters related to heart disease.
Heart surgeon Dr Bikash Rai Das gave an account of the activities of Heart Care Society regarding cardiovascular disease prevention in the State in the last 16 years.
�The society envisages a scenario where everyone will become aware of the problems of heart diseases and the importance of preventive and timely measures to live better, longer and healthier lives. Towards that end, Heart Care Society carries out various awareness and training programmes, workshops, health camps, etc, at different places in the State from time to time,� he said.
The meeting was also attended by many distinguished personalities to support the cause of prevention of heart disease and promotion of health. The president of Heart Care Society of Assam and cardiologist Dr NK Bhattacharjee and president of the Guwahati chapter and film producer Ikramul Majid spoke on the Society�s future plans. The Society also felicitated four noted personalities � actor, director and dramatist Baharul Islam, actress Bhagirathi, actor Pranjal Saikia and chairman-cum-managing director of GNRC and neurologist NC Borah � for their contributions to society.
