JORHAT, May 10 - A student of Kaziranga University at Koraikhowa on the western outskirts here was found hanging inside a room of a hostel today.
The Officer-in-Charge of Pulibor Police Station Mintu Handique told the correspondent that Suraj Bhandari (22), a second semester student of B Tech course, was found hanging from a ceiling fan inside his hostel room, around noon by fellow students.
Handique said that as per information collected by police, Suraj reportedly did not attend class today morning and stayed back at his hostel room. When some of his friends found the door of the room locked, they got it opened from the authorities and reportedly found him (Suraj) hanging, the police officer told.
He said that police investigation was on and the body has been sent for post-mortem.
He said that so far the incident appears to be a case of suicide.
Handique said that the father of the deceased, is an army officer originally from Uttarakhand, presently posted at Missamari in Sonitpur district. He said that the father was informed about the incident and he was on his way here.
