GUWAHATI, Oct 18 � Kati Bihu, the Bihu of austerity, which is also known as Kongali Bihu, was observed all over the State today in a befitting manner. The peasants worshipped their cropland by lighting earthen lamps and planting tulsi plants on their courtyards to worship Lakshmi, the Goddess of wealth and prosperity, praying for good harvest, as per the traditional rituals.
Earthen lamps were also lit on the residential campuses by the people on the occasion to ward off the forces of destitution. Sky lamps were also hoisted on the occasion as per the rituals.
