GUWAHATI, July 31 � Karnataka State Cricket Association Secretary XI need 271 in their second innings to beat Assam in the group league match of the All India Shafi Darshan Trophy Cricket Tournament. On the penultimate day of the four-day match at the Mysore University ground today, the host team were eight for no loss in two overs. On the final day tomorrow they have to score another 263 runs in 63 overs.
Earlier, Karnataka ream were all out for 355 in their first innings in reply to Assam�s 315. Spinner Prasanta Sonowal and pacer Krishna Das took four and three wickets respectively. In the second knock Assam were all out for 310 in 73.1 overs. Gokul Sharma was the top scorer with 81 while Kunal Saikai and Rajesh Pawar contributed 48 and 47 respectively. Pritom Debnath (31), Parvez Aziz, Abhijit Sinha Roy and Abu Nechim Ahmed (30 each) were the other notable run getters. Anirudha Joshi took five wickets for the home side.
