Karimganj ready for Ratabari bypoll

SILCHAR, Oct 17 - The Karimganj District Administration is gearing up to conduct the bye-election at Ratabari LAC under Karimganj district slated to be held on October 21.

Deputy Commissioner Anbamuthan MP, while talking to The Assam Tribune on Thursday said that they are ready to conduct the bypoll in a free and fair manner.

�As many as 1.64 lakh voters would cast their votes. The EVMs have reached safely and the voting would be carried out in 202 polling stations spread across 134 locations,� Anbamuthan said.

However, he was quick to add that of the polling stations, half section of CRPF would be deployed in as many as 80 polling stations earmarked as sensitive booths to avert any untoward incident during the polling hours.

�We are ensuing all the security measures are ticked and the bye-election is done in a fair manner and sans any disturbances whatsoever,� the Deputy Commissioner added.

Meanwhile, major political parties including BJP and its principal rival Indian National Congress are all set to lock horns along with SUCI and one Independent candidate. The candidates in the fray are seen wooing the voters in the slogging hours of campaign trial.
