Nilambazar, February 19: Karimganj police arrested and deported a Bangladeshi national for allegedly attending various religious gatherings in Assam violating the Visa Act. He is Mufti Hossain Mohammad Siddique of Brahmanbaria in Bangladesh.
Additional Superintendent of Police, Karimganj, Pankaj Yadav told the media that Mufti Hossain Mohammad Siddique had entered India on February 2 on a medical visa and was addressing various religious ceremonies in Assam by violating the Visa law.
Karimganj police arrested him on Thursday and deported him to Bangladesh through Sutarkandi land port, after receiving information that he had attended a religious function in Patharkandi.
