Karimganj admin gets 28 names connected with Nizamuddin event: DC

SILCHAR, April 4 - Karimganj district administration has obtained names of as many as 28 persons in connection with the Nizamuddin Markaz in New Delhi.

Talking to The Assam Tribune, Deputy Commissioner Anbamuthan MP on Saturday said, �Local sources have given us a list of 28 names whom they said, had been to the Nizamuddin Markaz and we are cross-checking and tallying the list with the names we have as per records.�

He informed that people kept in quarantine in the district are being taken good care with proper food and other amenities made duly available.

Meanwhile, reacting on the issue of a report published by a local newspaper house on the health status of the first COVID-19 positive patient in the State belonging to Badarpur constituency of the district, the deputy commissioner said that the report published by the concerned media house is false. Terming that such false reporting on a patient�s health condition creates serious problems for the administration to keep a check on the situation. He was quick to add that the district administration is contemplating to resort to legal action against such false reporting of COVID-19 cases.

On the other hand, the Cachar district Administration has also said that steps against false reporting is being taken as per relevant Acts.

Building catches fire: Top floor of a multi-storied building at Gopalganj area of Silchar was damaged by fire on Saturday. However, prompt response by locals and fireman amid the ongoing lockdown brought the fire under control.
