DIPHU, Jan 25 - The Karbi Students� Association (KSA-Mandal Engti faction), through a press statement, has urged all sections of Karbi people of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao to abstain themselves from the ideology of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
�The RSS is against the culture and customs of the hill tribes of the Northeast. Although some BJP members seem to be taking part in cultural activities of the Karbis and other hill tribes, they are doing this only for their narrow electoral gain,� the statement mentioned.
The statement further stated that the RSS, along with other associated bodies like Sangh Parivaar, VHP, Bajrang Dal and ABVP, is against the creation of separate States for Karbis and Dimasas and other indigenous hill tribes.
The organisation further alleged that the recent RSS meet in Guwahati is not at all a good sign for even the Assamese people leaving alone the hill tribes like Karbi, Dimasa, Naga, Arunachali, Mizo and others.
A senior member of the district RSS, on condition of anonymity, while ridiculing the statement said that there is no element of truth in the claim made by the Karbi students� body. Rather, the RSS is doing its best to preserve, propagate and flourish the ancient cultures, religions and customs of the tribal people and constantly fighting to save them.
