Karbi film awards presented

DIPHU, June 25 � In a bid to give encouragement and due recognition to the talented artistes of the district, the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) presented the Rangsina Sarpo Awards to those who have shown excellence in the field of cinema.

The award giving function was organised by the Art and Cultural Affairs department of the KAAC here on Monday evening in presence of eminent artistes of the district. The function was held at the Joy Sing Doloi Auditorium Complex where KAAC EMs Mongolsing Timung, Bidyasing Rongpi, Longki Timung, Prodip Rongpi, Prodip Singnar, MACs Kangjang Terang, Dorsing Ronghang, KCS president Chondrosing Kro, Karbi Jutang Chingthur Amei general secretary Jorsing Bey were present. Dhaneswar Engti, joint secretary, KAAC and Hemari Tokbi, Deputy Director of Art and Cultural Affairs, KAAC were also present in the award presentation ceremony.

Awards in various categories were presented to the respective artistes. Sanjay Terang won the best male actor award for the film Tengne Un-eh, while Hewali Teronpi was the best female actor for the film Didi Mulori. Welson Kro and Tado Beypi shared the best actor award in a negative role for Didi Mulori and Kanghon Athir respectively. Dilip Bey and Kareng Teronpi were given the best supporting actor awards (male and female, respectively) for their performance in Didi Mulori. Sika Terangpi won the best comic actor award for Kanghon Athir, while Sarklim Phangcho walked away with the best child artiste award for Tengne Un-eh.

The best director award of the year went to Dhaniram Tisso for Didi Mulori that was also named the best feature film of the year. Longkiram Kro�s film Kanghon Athir won the best jury award of the year. The best music director award went to Bhaskar Doley for Tengne Un-eh, while Bidyasing Phangcho was given the best art director award for Didi Mulori.

The other winners in different categories are Hiten Thakuria (best videography), Bhaskar Doley (best choreographer), Anjana Engtipi (best costume designer), Bhaity Engti (best scriptwriter and screenplay for Tengne Un-eh). Bijoy Lekthe won the best lyricist and best story writer awards for Tengne Un-eh. The best playback singer (male and female) awards went to Bijoy Lekthe and Kache Teronpi respectively.

It needs to be mentioned here that the �folk artiste of the year� award was instituted this time and it went to Mohori Rongpi. All the winners were presented with a Rangsina Sarpo trophy, a certificates and cash each in the function attended by dignitaries and film personalities.
