RANGIYA, Jan 7 - Under the aegis of the Sandhan Care Society, a Kamrupi Lokageet competition for ideal mothers of the locality was held at the Rangiya Raijmel Krishak Swahid Bhavan on Saturday. The event, held in the memory of Akashvani and DD lokageet artiste of the locality Late Hemchandra Bujarbaruah, was inaugurated by noted Lokageet artiste Basanta Patgiri.
More than 50 participants from different parts of the locality who took part in the event sung different Kamrupi lokageets in the event. Kanika Bujarbaruah was adjudged the best singer in the said category. Later, a cultural programme on �recalling you through songs� in the honour of the late artiste was held in which Gouriprava Mahanta, Koran Patowary, Dipak Talukdar, Mamani Behenji of Prajapita Brahmakumari, besides many others performed and presented Assamese lokageets.
