GUWAHATI, Aug 18 - In view of the forecast of heavy rain in the Himalayan foothills over the next couple of days, the Kamrup Metro district administration has sounded an alert in the low-lying and landslide-prone areas of the city and initiated precautionary measures to tackle any situation.
Kamrup Metro DC Dr M Angamuthu told The Assam Tribune that SDRF and NDRF teams have been alerted for a quick response to any eventuality.
�The district administration is fully prepared to handle any situation arising out of the possible inclement weather conditions. We have alerted the citizens living in areas prone to landslides and erosion, and other vulnerable parts of the city and our teams are ready to respond within half an hour of any crisis situation,� the DC maintained.
