Kamrup Metro admin directive on ration cards

GUWAHATI, Jan 6 - The Kamrup Metro district administration has directed all inspectors and sub-inspectors of the Food, Civil Supply and Consumer Affairs Department to furnish certificates stating details about the distribution of ration cards under the National Food Security Act (NFSA).

All officials concerned have been directed by the Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup Metro to furnish certificates �to the effect that the ration cards under the National Food Security Act tagged to the fair price shop/gaon panchayat samabay samiti agents of your respective area have been completely distributed to the beneficiaries of the fair price shops and no ration cards are lying with the fair price shops undistributed.�

The certificates have to be on a particular format mentioning name of the respective fair price shop or gaon panchayat samabay samiti agent, ward number and name of the gaon panchayat samabay samiti, total number of NFSA ration cards tagged to the fair price shop or agent, total number of ration cards issued to the beneficiaries, total number of ration cards lying with the fair price shops and the reason for their non-utilisation in such cases.

The district administration has also threatened action against officials concerned in case of non-compliance with the order.
