Kamrup karatekas secure top spot

GUWAHATI, May 13 - The Kamrup Metro District emerged as the best team claiming 207 medals including 53 gold, 57 silver and 97 bronze in the 3rd All Assam Shotokan Karate Championship which concluded yesterday at the DTRP Indoor Stadium in the RG Baruah Sports Complex here.

Jorhat had to be content with the second spot with a total of 13 medals including six gold, one silver and six bronze while Kamrup (R) occupied the third position in the medals tally. The championship was organised by the Shotokan Karate Do Promotion Council of UKAA in association with Greater Guwahati Karate Do Association. The championship was officially�inaugurated by UKAA general secretary Nagen Bongjang.

Altogether 360 players in different groups of Shotokan Style Karate from 14 districts including Dhubri, Barpeta, Baksa, Kamrup (R), Darrang, Sonitpur, Dhemaji, Tinsukia, Jorhat, Titabor, Golaghat, Karbi Anglong, Nagaon and Kamrup (M) took part.
