NORTH LAKHIMPUR, Aug 26 � Noted film maker and the close aide of music maestro late Dr Bhupen Hazarika, Kalpana Lajmi was conferred the �Asomiya� title by the Dr Bhupen Hazarika Smriti Raksha Samiti in recognition to her lifelong contributions to Assamese music and cinema.
The award was presented to her in a glittering ceremony last night here at Tyagkshetra by Jiten Gogoi, chairman of North Lakhimpur Municipality Board. Lajmi was also conferred the �Asom Hitoishi� award on the same occasion by the organisers. The award presentation ceremony was attended by Manjula Hazarika and Manisha Hazarika, two members of the Dr Bhupen Hazarika Cultural Trust.
