KALAIGAON, Nov 10 - People of Kalaigaon have completed preparations for successful celebration of the 35th Raas Mahotsav from November 11 to 22.
The celebrations will commence with a cleanliness drive at 7 am on the inaugural day, i.e., on November 11. A colourful procession on the occasion will be inaugurated by Sujata Goswami, Revenue Circle Officer of Kalaigaon at 2.30 pm.
Rihon Daimari, Minister for PHE will inaugurate the Raas celebration at 4 pm to be followed by inauguration of the puja mandap by Maheswar Boro, MLA of Kalaigaon at 4.30 pm. Lok Sabha MP from Mangaldai Dilip Saikia will inaugurate the main exhibition of Raas idols at 6 pm.
A religious discourse which will be held on November 19 at 11 am and will be inaugurated by minister Bhabesh Kalita. Janardan Deva Goswami, Satradhikar of Uttar Kamalabari Satra of Majuli will attend as the chief guest. A souvenir will be released on the occasion by Paramananda Rajbongshi, president of Asam Sahitya Sabha at 5 pm.
Prakash Ranjan Ghorpholia, Deputy Commissioner and Longnit Teron,SP of Udalguri will attend the function as distinguished guests.
The Raas celebration will conclude on November 22.
