Kala Samaroh at Sivasagar on August 25-26

GUWAHATI, Aug 21 - The 21st edition of Kala Samaroh will be held under the auspices of Barna Kutir at Sivasagar with a two-day programme on August 25 and 26.

The event will be held at the Hindu Dharmasabha Namghar auditorium, Sivasagar.

Extending support to Barna Kutir in this endeavour will be All India Radio, Dibrugarh, monthly magazine Samahar and Sivasagar Rang Chora Art School.

The programme on both days will start at 12 noon. On August 25, the flag-hoisting will be done by Barna Kutir�s president Dr Khanindra Deva Goswami at 12:30 pm. At 1 pm, an art exhibition will be inaugurated by Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee sculptor Nuruddin Ahmed.

At 1.15 pm, the open session of Kala Samaroh-2018 will be held under the presidentship of Dr Khanindra Deva Goswami, which will be inaugurated by Sivasagar DC Pallav Gopal Jha. Biren Singh, head of the Jorhat-based office of the Union Textile Ministry will be the chief guest of the open session and Nuruddin Ahmed will deliver a speech on art.

On August 26, the second day�s open session will be inaugurated by artiste Reba Kanta Mahanta. District Cultural Officer Angshuman Dutta will be the chief guest. At 1.25 pm, in the programme Kala Parikrama, visual artist Parikshit Baruah of Jorhat will speak on the journey of art and modernity. He will also take part in an interactive session with representatives and general public.

A prize-distribution ceremony will be held at 2.35 pm, followed by a colourful cultural function, stated a press release issued by Barna Kutir�s secretary, artist Sujit Baruah.
