Kakchingtabam Sundar Gopal Sharma�s death condoled

GUWAHATI, March 20 - The Work Group on Historically Dispersed Assamese held a condolence meeting on March 19 at the Uzanbazar Jorpukhuripar Ankurjyoti Club here to mourn the untimely death of Kakchingtabam Sundar Gopal Sharma, a prominent person of the Manipuri community of Mandalay city in Myanmar and a good friend and well-wisher of Assam and Assamese people. Sarma died on a March 16, 2017, in road mishap in the Sagaing state of Myanmar. �

According to a press release here today, participants of the meeting, besides condoling the untimely death of Sharma, prayed for the deceased, observing silence for two minutes. �

Speakers including former Minister Pradyut Bordoloi, journalist Oinam Sunil, general surgeon Dr Satyakam Phukan, businessman Binoy Kumar Sarma and culinary expert Jyoti Das, spoke on the occasion, extolling Sharma�s virtues, his selfless work for Assam and the Assamese people and also the personal bonding they had developed with him.�

It is worth mentioning here that Late Kakchingtabam Sundar Gopal Sharma was a guardian figure for the Historically Dispersed Assamese community of Mandalay city in Myanmar. He was also one of the main vectors in establishing the link between the Assamese people of Assam and Myanmar.
