DIBRUGARH, June 26 � The Sadou Asom Kaibortta Yuba Chatra Sanmilan has reiterated its demand for cent percent employment of locals in the gas cracker project at Lepetkata and said that at least 20 percent must be reserved for the unemployed youths of the Kaibortta community.
The Kaibortta youth body had submitted a memorandum to the management of BCPL through the Deputy Commissioner here on June 8, 2012. Another representation was submitted to the BCPL authorities through the district administration here today after the leaders of the youth organization failed to get any response from the authorities.
The Kaibortta Yuba Chatra Sanmilan has also pressed for reservation in contract job allotments, erection of a memorial statue of music maestro Dr Bhupen Hazarika at the main entrance and measures for development of sociocultural, educational and sports in the vicinity of the project. The organisation has demanded response from the BCPL authorities within 15 days, failing which it has threatened to stage protest demonstrations.
