KACOC president arrested in arms case

DIPHU, Oct 13 - Augustine Kramsa, a former militant leader and the president of the Karbi Anglong Chamber of Commerce (KACOC) and a BJP member of Karbi Anglong district unit was arrested this morning by Karbi Anglong Police for possessing illegal arms.

�More than three complaints were registered against Kramsa, including possessing of illegal arms, forgery etc. Today he was taken into police custody by the OC of Dillai Police Station for retaining illegal arms. He was produced before the judicial magistrate of Diphu court and the police has received two days remand of the accused,� Gaurav Upadhay, SP, Karbi Anglong told this reporter over phone.

It may be mentioned here that Kramsa was associated with a number of ethnic militant groups of Karbi Anglong and had occupied top ranks of rebel organisations, but later came back to the mainstream by officially laying down arms.

He is an established businessman today and heads the Karbi Anglong Chamber of Commerce and is associated with a number of social activities. Kramsa joined the BJP a few months back with a large number of supporters. Till the filing of this report, no reaction has come from any quarter regarding his arrest.
