Kaamakaazi NN Bhatta soccer from July 7

GUWAHATI, July 4 � The football season of the Guwahati Sports Association (GSA) will kick start with the Kaamakaazi Restaurant sponsored Nripendra Narayan Bhattacharyya Trophy Football Tournament at the Nehru Stadium here on July 7 with the FCI SC versus Rajbari AC match. The final will be played on July 22.

Giving details about the tournament, GSA general secretary Munin Nobis said in a press conference today that altogether 14 local teams, including six Super Division and seven A Division, will vie for title in the knock-out championship.

The champion team will receive Rs 3,000 with the NN Bhatta Trophy, while the runners-up team will get the Moral Ahmed Trophy along with Rs 2,000. The best player of every match will get Rs 500 which will be awarded in memory of Bhuban Gogoi, disclosed Nobis. He further revealed that the title sponsor will provide Rs 30,000, while the NN Bhatta family will provide Rs 10,000 for hosting the meet.

GSA football secretary Bhola Boro opined that this time they are making elaborate arrangements so that all the matches are played in an ideal atmosphere. The GSA will also try to provide quality referees so that no disputes take place during the matches.

Subrata Kar, who represented the sponsor in the press meet in absence of Kaamakaazi proprietor Ruli Ahmed, said they are committed to sponsor the meet for three years and they hope to continue for some more years. He also expressed satisfaction by sponsoring the meet.

NN Bhatta�s son JN Bhattacharyya said their family members are trying to organise the tournament in a big way as NN Bhatta is a household name in State sports arena.

GSA officials Ibocha Singh, Zeherul Haq, Nabab Ali, Ehtesamuddin Ahmed were also present in the press meet.

The participating teams are: FCI, Rajbari, GTC, Chandmari, Rising, Nabajyoti, Dynamo, Maharana, ASEB, NF Rly, SAI, Jewel Star, Sarusajai, Green Valley.
