GUWAHATI, June 18 - The final voters� turnout in the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) polls, voting for which was held yesterday, has been put at 78.04 per cent.
Addressing the media here today, State Election Commissioner HN Bora said that while turnout was 77.21 per cent in the West Karbi Anglong district, it stood at 77.42 per cent in Diphu subdivision and at 80.26 per cent at Bokajan subdivision of Karbi Anglong district.
�Polling has been peaceful and there will be no re-poll anywhere. We are ready for the counting which will start from 8 am on June 22 and by 3 pm that day we expect the results from all 26 constituencies to be out,� said Bora.
Counting of votes will be done at Hamren, Diphu and Bokajan and there will be three counting halls at each place. Three-layer security has been deployed in the strongrooms and there is also CCTV monitoring.
�So far there has been no complaint of violation of code of conduct. However, our observers had noticed 67 cases of violations at various places which were settled locally and no reference has come to the State Election Commission,� Bora said.
Three teams of officials deployed in polling exercise had to take the help of Army to cross swollen rivers due to floods and some polling parties had to walk up to 8 km due to inclement weather and poor road conditions.
