DIPHU, Nov 10 - The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) is all set to legalise Karbi customary law.
In regard this, an executive committee meeting of KAAC headed by Tuliram Ronghang, Chief Executive Member (CEM) of KAAC was held at the KAAC Secretariat on Monday, which discussed some important matters of the Council.
According to KAAC sources, one of the important matters was the acceptance of the already compiled Karbi customary law by the executive committee. The Executive Members of KAAC and Principal Secretary too were present in the meeting.
It may perhaps be pertinent to add here that the Karbi customary law was compiled by the Karbi Customary Law Compilation Board headed by Bidyasing Rongpi, Executive Member of KAAC.
The KAAC source further informed that the compiled Karbi customary law has now been accepted by the executive committee, which will be tabled in the KAAC session for its passing and then hereafter it will be sent to the Governor for his formal approval.
