GUWAHATI, Dec 29 � Jyotirmoy Chakravarty will be the first Commissioner of Police of Guwahati.
The Government of Assam issued the formal notification appointing Chakravarty as the City Police Commissioner this evening. An Indian Police Service officer of 1986 batch, Chakravarty is currently working as the Additional Director General of Police, Training and Armed Police. He will take over as the City Police Commissioner on January 1.
Meanwhile, the Government has also appointed NF Haque as the Joint Commissioner. The Government is likely to appoint three Deputy Commissioners tomorrow.
