Julie Barua�s birthday celebrated

GUWAHATI, Jan 30 � The 30th birthday of Julie Barua, who had lost both of her hands in a road accident some years back during her study tenure at the Cotton College here, was celebrated at Amar Ghar, the old-age home at Patharquary here on January 26.

At present, an official of the State�s Information and Public Relations Department, Barua continued her higher education with courage, dedication and determination despite her misfortune.

A living symbol of hope amidst adversity, Julie has already authored a number of books which represent some invaluable creations in literature. In her work too, she has demonstrated how a person with two artificial limbs can show their mettle by performing to their optimum potential.

Those who attended and wished and blessed her on her birthday included former Cotton College Prof Satyendra Kumar Choudhury, Gauhati University assistant professor of history Kishori Mohan Bhattacharyya, retired police official Syed Mohammed Salim, dramatist Dipak Shyam, Amar Ghar managing committee secretary Manju Dutta Barua, treasurer Dilip Kumar Dutta Choudhury, Swarna Barua, among others.
