GUWAHATI, March 13 � Poet Swarnali Biswas Bhattacharjee is going to be honoured with the Jugasankha Sahitya Award this year. The award carries Rs 1 lakh, a citation and other gifts.

Instituted five years back by the daily newspaper Dainik Jugasankha to honour those authors who have been contributing towards creating a positive ambience through their works, the award is presented on the birth anniversary of founder editor of Jugasankha Barta Bhagirath Baidyanath Nath.

This year the award presentation function is being scheduled on March 23 at the auditorium of Rajib Bhawan in Silchar.

Four journalists would also be honoured with the Jugasankha Journalism Award on the occasion. The award winners this year are Shamin Sultana Ahmed, Manjur Ahmed Borbhuyan, Nabajyoti Pathak and Mausam Akan. Akan is from Dhaka.

Director of Jugasankha, Guarav Nath said that the award to honour the journalists was introduced last year with the objective to recognize the hard work of the journalists and to motivate them to go ahead in their mission with determination and commitment.

This award carries Rs 25,000, a citation and other gifts.
