GUWAHATI, Feb 28 - The Court of Special Judge, Assam today remanded five out of six arrested Social Welfare department officials to judicial custody.
Kulendra Saikia, who was also arrested by the Anti Corruption and Vigilance (wing of Assam Police on Monday, was however, remanded to three days� police custody as was sought by the investigators.
Advocates Arshad Choudhury, BM Choudhury and others appeared for the accused persons who were arrested after they were called for questioning by the ACV last evening.
The arrested accused, which includes two women, are facing charges of resorting to misappropriation in distribution of sewing machines to the beneficiaries.
Those sent to judicial custody include RS Bhattacharjee, Hemi Bora, Sajid Hussain, Kishori Baruah and Debasish Dey.
