SHILLONG, May 23 - Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court, Dinesh Maheswari has notified and constituted the Meghalaya State Judicial Academy recently.
Earlier, the 14th Finance Commission had earmarked an amount of Rs 25 crore for establishment of the Academy.
Last year, a Parliamentary Standing Committee had recommended setting up of the academy in Meghalaya during its visit here.
The Committee suggested that the Academy should nurture tribal laws of the State so that the legislature could later make such laws and practices as statutory laws.
The objective of the Academy is to improve the work quality of judicial officers through training and further education on the judiciary.
