JPC report on Citizenship Bill tabled in Lok Sabha

NEW DELHI, Jan 7: In what could stir further unrest in Assam, the Centre has decided to bring the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill for passage on Tuesday.

The Joint Parliamentary Committee report on the Bill was laid today in the Lok Sabha amidst protest by Congress MPs including Gaurav Gogoi, who called it "anti-Assam Accord".

The 440-page report also includes dissent notes by Sushmita Dev, Bhubaneswar Kalita, Bhartruhari Mahtab, Javed Ali Khan, Saugata Roy and Derek o'Brien, Md Salim, Pradeep Bhattacharjee and Adhir Ranjan Choudhury.

Meanwhile, a group of activists belonging to the KMSS staged a nude protest in front of Parliament House.
