GUWAHATI, Oct 14 - As part of the Army Wives Welfare Association�s golden jubilee celebrations, the Red Horns Division organised a �Joy of Giving� week to reaffirm its social commitment towards the local populace.

Various activities were organised, which included blood donation camps and distribution of items at orphanages at Rongmen Village adjacent to Umroi Military Station, Baralumukh in Guwahati, SOS Children�s Village, Guwahati, New Hatipota, Koila Moila, Boro Bazar and Debargaon (Kokrajhar).

The children at orphanages were gifted with various items which included books, toys, clothing, school bags, shoes, stationery etc. The gesture brought smiles and happiness on the faces of small children and was appreciated by the NGOs running the orphanages, a press release stated today.

The week finally culminated with �Swacch Bharat Abhiyan� during which officers and families took a pledge to spread awareness on cleanliness and also contribute towards Swacch Bharat. The officers and families carried out �Shram Daan� to mark the culmination of the week. The civil population also joined hands in cleanliness drives and took pledge with the army officials.
