Journalist Parag Bhuyan cremated

DOOMDOOMA, Nov 13 - Senior journalist of Tinsukia district and the vice president of Tinsukia District Journalists� Association (TDJA), Parag Bhuyan, who died in a mysterious road mishap that took place just in front of his residence at Kakopothar about 30 metres away from Kakopothar PS on Wednesday night, was cremated late night on Thursday at the premises of his residence in the presence of his family members, journalists along with hundreds of his admirers.

Earlier, when the body of the late journalist reached his home town Kakopothar from Dibrugarh on Thursday evening , a silent procession was taken out in Kakopothar town with the body before it was taken to his residence. At Kakopothar AASU office, various organisations and individuals paid their last tributes to the late journalist.

Under the aegis of Doomdooma Press Club (DPC) a �Rajohuwa Shradhanjali� programme was held at Gandhi Chowk of Doomdooma town this evening where the DPC members along with representatives of various organisations and individuals paid tributes to the journalist.

While mourning the death of former DPC secretary Parag Bhuyan, the president of DPC Anuj Kalita said that late Bhuyan would be remembered for his straight forward nature and fearlessness in his profession. Kalita also expressed doubt whether Bhuyan was intentionally hit by the vehicle. He demanded an impartial probe into the incident.

Tinsukia District Journalists� Association (TDJA) has decided to institute an inquiry into the mishap separately and for that a seven-member inquiry committee was constituted, informed TDJA secretary Ranajyoti Neog.

Meanwhile, after Chief Minister�s order for a CID probe into the incident, CID SSP Bibekananda Das has reached Kakopothar today for the inquiry.

Our Correspondent from Dhemaji adds: Members of Dhemaji District Journalists� Association (DDJA) and Dhemaji Press Club have paid tribute to late journalist Parag Bhuyan in a meeting conducted at Dhemaji Press Club this evening.

The press fraternity of the district also mourned Bhuyan�s death and prayed for the eternal peace of his soul.

The DDJA has demanded a free and fair investigation to unearth the actual reason behind the hit-and-run case, which claimed Bhuyan�s life.
