Jorhat SP, other staff test negative for Covid-19

JORHAT, July 5 - The test results of all the employees of the office of the Jorhat Superintendent of Police, including SP Mrinal Talukdar have been found negative for Covid-19.

Jorhat Deputy Commissioner Roshni A Korati informed that swab samples of all the officials and employees, including the SP, have tested negative.

It may be mentioned here that the Jorhat SP along with all the senior officials and employees of the SP�s office had gone for home quarantine on Friday and swab samples of the employees collected for testing after two policemen posted at the said office tested positive on Thursday night.

The entire compound and office of the SP was sanitised on Friday.

Two more persons in Jorhat on Saturday tested positive for Covid-19 and both were Armymen who returned from outside Assam, stated the Deputy Commissioner.

She said that the total number of positive cases in Jorhat till date was 220, out of which 81 were active � 39 in JMCH and 42 in the IAF Hospital at Rowriah here.

Containment zones lifted: In the meantime, the Jorhat district administration on Saturday lifted the containment zone restrictions at Marwari Patty-Chamber Road stretch and at Suwanigaon area after the three positive cases (porters) from the said areas recovered and swab samples of people who came in contact with the three men tested negative.

On June 28, the two localities were notified as containment zones after the three labourers who resided at Suwanigaon and worked at Marwari Patty and Chamber Road areas tested positive for Covid-19.
