GUWAHATI, June 23 - Conceptualised to coincide with 75 years of Swahid Kushal Konwars hanging by the British imperialists on June 15, 1943 at the Central Jail Jorhat for his role in the Quit India Movement of 1942, the Mahapurush Madhavdeva Foundation of Jorhat recalled the supreme sacrifice of the patriot at a meeting organised at Ward No. 4 Primary School in the Knowledge City of Upper Assam on June 15 last, a press release received here stated.

The Swahid Divas function was presided over by former Bahona College Principal Dr Seniram Dutta and attended by Jorhat district Development Commissioner Brajen Chandra Das, among others.

Formally releasing a booklet titled Leseri Butoli-14 Kushal Konwaror Somadhir Pora Koisu, Das reminded the audience about the supreme sacrifice of Kushal Konwar during the tumultuous days of Indias Freedom Struggle.

Das urged the upcoming generation to imbibe the selfless ideals of the patriot and lauded the Mahapurush Madhavdeva Foundation for organising the function not only to pay glowing tribute to the Late freedom fighter, but also for sowing the seeds of patriotism among the new generation.

From among the audience, Brajen Kotoky, Niru Tamuli Barua, Manik Chandra Bora and Noni Baruah spoke a few words.

The meet resolved to ask the concerned authority to incorporate a chapter on the sterling contributions of Kushal Konwar in school textbooks so as to inspire the upcoming generations in the days to come.

The vote of thanks was subsequently offered by the Foundations secretary Ratul Baruah.
