RAHA, Aug 6 - A girl, aged about 25-30, was found in a critical condition at Pubbula village, Amsoi on Tuesday morning. The girl was left there after physical torture by miscreants at a secluded place the previous night, locals of the area suspected.
The incident came to light after a villager saw the girl lying in a critical condition on the embankment of the Kapili river of Pubbula village in the morning. He soon informed the police about the girl. The victim was immediately rushed to the Nagaon BP Civil hospital. Later, while undergoing treatment at the hospital, she died.
During a preliminary investigation by police, the girl was identified as Binita Garh, a resident of Jorhat.
According to locals, miscreants attempted to kill the girl after raping her. On the other hand, police have denied the rape allegations and said that it would only be confirmed by medical reports.
