JORHAT, March 20 - The Jorhat district administration today started issuing �home isolation notices� for 14 days to people coming to Jorhat district from outside Assam by planes and trains.
Jorhat Deputy Commissioner Roshni A Korati told The Assam Tribune that as part of the preventive measures adopted to stop spread of Covid-19, the administration today started issuing home isolation notices to people coming to the district from outside Assam.
The names of the persons along with home addresses too were mentioned in the notices to whom the same were served.
Korati said that 264 people who landed in Jorhat today in two flights � one from Delhi and another from Kolkata � were issued the notices. She said that from tonight the notices will also be given to passengers of trains that will enter railway stations in the district.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the step has been taken after it was found during the past weeks that earlier announcements at the railway stations, airports and pleas made through print and electronic media to people coming from outside the State to stay confined at their homes for 14 days were not fully complied with by such persons.
The administration received complaints of such people moving out of their houses and had to intervene.
�In the present scenario we cannot take any risk, so we started handing notices with the names mentioned to each person coming to the district from outside Assam,� the Deputy Commissioner said.
Korati said that after handing over the notices to the people coming from outside Assam, the administration has started providing copies of the notices to respective police stations/outposts, revenue circle offices, gaonburhas, ASHA workers, panchayats to keep a watch and also to see that those people do not come out of their homes and also remain isolated in their homes for the 14-day incubation period during which it is medically stated the virus attacks the body if it was present in it.
The notice stated that �you are directed to remain under home isolation in view of global outbreak of COVID-19 virus pandemic with effect from (the date stated) till completion of 14 days......The surveillance and medical teams will keep a close watch on you during the period.�
The Deputy Commissioner further said that all kinds of prohibitions and other related directives issued by the State and Central Governments were being implemented in the district.
