Jorhat Cong candidate declares assets

JORHAT, March 24 - The Congress candidate for the Jorhat Lok Sabha constituency Sushanta Borgohain has immovable assets worth Rs 1.33 crore while his wife has immovable assets worth Rs 57 lakh.

In the affidavit submitted along with the nomination papers to the Returning Officer of the Jorhat parliamentary seat yesterday, Borgohain declared that he owns two plots of land (non-agricultural) at Moranhat and in Sivasagar town, with the plot in Sivasagar shared with Noni Borgohain.

He owns two residential buildings in both the plots of land. Borgohain has declared that his wife owns a plot of land along with a residential building in it at Demow.

Borgohain further declared that he invested Rs 16 lakh to acquire another plot of land at Kahilipara in Guwahati.

The Congress candidate stated that he owns movable assets worth Rs 1419178. Among the movable assets are two motorcycles, including a Royal Enfield and a Hyundai Verna car, three bank accounts, jewellery and cash in hand. Borgohain has declared cash in hand Rs 414098.52.

He stated that he owns a .32 pistol with a magazine among the movable assets.

He declared that his wife has movable assets worth Rs 1097066.46. She has cash in hand Rs 449106.68. She has three bank accounts, jewellery and furniture among the movable assets.

Borgohain is a graduate (2004) from City College under Dibrugarh University. He declared that he has no criminal cases pending against him in any court.

Meanwhile, CPI candidate Kanak Gogoi in his affidavit has declared that he did not possess any immovable assets.

Gogoi declared movable assets worth Rs 23894.30 out of which he has cash in hand Rs 10500 and two bank accounts. A Masters degree holder in History (2002) from Dibrugarh University, Gogoi has declared that he has no criminal cases pending against him in any court.
