GUWAHATI, Sept 26 - Jorhat emerged champions in the JK Barooah Trophy U-19 Inter District Cricket Tournament, organised by the Barpeta District Sports Association.

In the final played at the Barpeta DSA Stadium, Barpeta today, Jorhat got the better of Silchar by 71 runs.

In the low scoring 50-over summit clash, batting first Jorhat managed to score 141 all out in 42 overs. Partha Pratim Das (36), Partha Pratim Borah (31) were their leading run getters.

In reply Silchar were bundled out for 70 as Dasarath Kumar was the wrecker in chief with a five wicket haul.

Dasararh Kumar walked away with the Man of the Match award while Partha Pratim Das was adjudged Man of the Series.

Assam Cricket Association secretary Pradip Buragohain attended the closing function as chief guest.

Brief scores: Jorhat 141 all out in 42 overs (Partha Pratim Das 36, Partha Pratim Borah 31, Sudharshan Sinha 3/16, Rajkumar Das 2/23.

Silchar 70 all out in 26.3 overs (Rajkumar Das 21, Bishal Rudra Paul 15, Dasarath Kumar 5/13, Sambhu Yadav 2/13.
