Jorhat AJYCP bike rally against notification

By Correspondent

JORHAT, Oct 15 - To sensitize people for raising their voice democratically against the Central Governments notification to provide citizenship to Hindu migrants, more than 200 members of the district unit of AJYCP today took out a bike rally across the city and its neighbouring areas.

The youths demanded the Central Government to cancel the notification as it is going to impose an extra burden of illegal migrants on the State. We strongly oppose the Modi Governments decision. No illegal migrant irrespective of religion will be sheltered in our State if he or she had infiltrated into Assam after the cut-off date of March 25, 1971, said AJYCP organising secretary Siva Kalita.

The protesters urged the people of Jorhat and its nearby rural areas to oppose the decision of the Central Government to protect the language, culture, heritage and unity of the indigenous communities as unabated infiltration through the porous Indo-Bangla border has caused a demographic change in several pockets of the State.

Along with the demand for cancellation of the notification, the AJYCP members also raised slogans for introduction of inner line permit in Assam as they feel that the land and property of the indigenous communities will be safe from the clutches of capitalists and industrialists of other States, who allegedly bought land and resources of several indigenous families at throwaway prices.
