Joint Govt-public effort can bring progress: CM

BAIHATA CHARIALI / GORESWAR, April 22 - �Overall development in the State is impossible without joint efforts from the public and the Government. Though the Government is a set of some elected public representatives, regarding the collective development of a State or a country, public�s participation and cooperation is very important and the determinative factor,� said Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in Thursday�s open meeting of the 15th biennial conference of the Sadou Asom Saraniya Kachari Chatra Santha and Kendriya Baah-Gosai Utsav of Saraniya-Kachari Janagosthi held at the Saraniya Kachari Samannay Kshetra, Bargaon-Sindurighopa near Changsari with a three day programme from April 18.

Participating in the open meeting as the chief guest, the Chief Minister said that the Government in the State is equally responsible for the development of the Saraniya-Kachari janagosthi (ethnic group) like other ethnic groups so they should not worry about their existence and now the Government is thinking to of providing land patta to the indigenous tribes. Speaking about the Chief Minister�s Gram Sadak Yojna (CMGSY), the Chief Minister said that the scheme will cover development of a total of 26,000 villages of the State and he urged the public to keep a strict vigil at every step of developmental works under this scheme. Similarly, he called upon the students of to develop the State through their study and applying modern technologies in all sectors including education, agriculture and health after achieving their respective education.

In the same function, the Chief Minister said that the State Government has decided to construct an auditorium in memory of Medini Choudhury, the author of the book Phereng ga dao and he sought active cooperation from the Saraniya Kachari Chatra Santha for the determination of the site for it�s construction. A committee of the Santha was also formed with Prabin Deka Sarania as president, Dibakar Das and Monoram Sarania as vice-presidents and Dipjyoti Sarania as the general secretary.
