GUWAHATI, Dec 29 - National Health Mission (NHM) employees who have completed 10 years of service without a negative performance review, will have a surety of job till attaining the age of 60 years.
State Health and Family Welfare Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma told the State Assembly today that the NHM employees would also be entitled to earned leave, casual leave and maternity leave like the State government employees.
The government will come up with an official notification in this regard in the next ten days.
Replying to a question from AIUDFs Mamun Imdadul Haque Chawdhury, Minister Sarma said that the State Cabinet had recently taken the decision to shoulder the responsibility of the employees working with the NHM for minimum 10 years. Even if NHM is discontinued for some reason in the future, these employees wont have to lose their jobs. The NHM employees who used to get their leave on an ad hoc basis, will now be entitled to proper earned leave, casual leave and maternity leave like the government employees. The facilities being enjoyed by the Sarba Siksha Abhiyan employees will henceforth be given to NHM workers as well, he added.
At present there are 18,930 contractual workers under the National Health Mission and 836 workers are employed on a temporary basis.
