Jibesh Lal Mazumder, an astute gentleman and a man with multiple talents, lived his life with pride and dignity till his last day. A retired civil engineer of the BRPL, he was a founder member of the refinery.

Way back in 1974, when the government commenced the BRPL, only a few engineers were handpicked to lay the foundation of the mega project, and Mazumder was one of them.

As the campus and quarters were yet to be built, he was given the responsibility of designing the refinery campus. He moved to a thatched house with his family in the campus and started designing each quarter and the layout with parks, school, club, etc. Later, he moved on to other departments of civil engineering that involved project work.

He belonged to a family of engineers from Barpeta. His father Nanda Lal Mazumder was an engineer, his uncle (khura) Kunja Lal Mazumder, too, was the first chief engineer of the PWD in undivided Assam, and both his daughters and sons-in-law are engineers.

A man with multiple hobbies, he was a pet lover, a garden expert and a wonderful cook. He was extremely creative and believed in making the best out of waste.

He was also a talented actor, and performed multiple characters in theatres across Assam.

A caring father and a loving husband, we will miss your voice and your laugh, and you will always be with us all the time. We will forever cherish the wonderful moments you have given us.
